CNN iReport by Patricia Smith -- PILGRIMAGE -- National Holiday in Uganda in honor of The Ugandan Martyrs

CNN iReport by Patricia Smithhttp://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1140287 PILGRIMAGE -- National Holiday in Uganda in honor of The Ugandan Martyrs

Today was a National Holiday in Uganda in honor of The Ugandan Martyrs. They are a group of 23 Anglican and 22 Catholic converts to Christianity in the historical kingdom of Buganda, now part of Uganda, who were executed between November 1885 and January 1887. They were executed because they were practicing Christians.

Thousands and Thousands of people came to worship and to honor GOD and those that were slaughtered in HIS NAME.

CNN Hero of 2007 Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe-----along with many other nuns as well as thousands of practicing Christians attended the pilgrimage. Many people had walked for days to get there ---some over 500 kilometers. They came in buses and trucks and cars ---on top of trucks by the thousands.

It was just amazing to watch / observe how all of these people loved GOD so much that they sacrificed and slept on the ground just to sing and worship HIM and honor these martyrs.

There were Christians of all denominations and from all over the world in attendance there to include the United States.

Several clergy spoke in several languages and the President of Uganda - Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was there and spoke about GOD and unity of the country.

Great sojourn today!

Another sojourn on this journey that I am on to reflect on FOREVER!...

THANKS GOD for this reflection!...
